Job Title:  Site Based Engineer (Ipswich)

Hours of Work:  45hrs per week

Location: Ipswich

About the Role
The Site Based Service Engineer (FSE) will be responsible for meeting the daily service maintenance and repair needs of the customer’s and Altegra Owned equipment working alongside the Site Lead Engineer in Ipswich. You will establish and maintain proper business relationships with customers and peers as well as performing necessary administrative duties as required and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
On a day-to-day basis you will (this list is not exhaustive):

  • Perform repairs and maintenance using correct tools and equipment, following approved techniques.
  • Ability to use standard computer applications, internet, and manufacturers service portals
  • Operate and test vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
  • Familiar with manufacturers products
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on forklift trucks and other Machinery in a workshop environment.
  • Complete all reports and administration required in a timely manner and to a high quality.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Complete all training programmes to further develop skills and knowledge in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean work environment, ensures correct use of tools and vehicles at all times.
  • Carry out repairs as timely as  possible and to always aim for a first time fix where possible.
  • Ability to work as part of a Team in order to ensure that the machines are repaired and back in service as quickly as possible.
  • Occasionally attend breakdowns out in the field when required.
  • Ability to attend breakdowns ‘Out of Hours’ when required (at a premium rate of pay)

Candidate Requirements

  • Preferred experience performing service repairs in the forklift industry
  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Previous experience of working in an engineering capacity.
  • Previous electrical experience desirable.
  • Full Driving Licence preferred
  • Good IT Skills
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Ability to work well on own initiative.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends if required
  • Self Motivated
  • Ability to work well with others as a member of the Aftersales Team.
